I am just about completing my graduation in commerce stream. I have completed my first year without any problem. I have chosen commerce as my stream becuase of my urge to do business. Since I have seen my father doing all the trading business, I have seen the real world of business and I have a great interest in the field of business. And as I have seen my father doing all his business very successfully in education and food sector, I also have an idea that how the world of business is so competitive and how the success of a business can be achieved by having a proper planned strategy. In my academic life I have fared well in all my subjects but my mathematics has been a weak point since it was very theoretical. But as I have worked hard in last two years of my graduation and got myself prepared in algebra, geometry, calculus and statistics, I hope to improve more in this field at the master's level. At Present I am working with Agwan Trading Co. (Pvt) Ltd. which is a Agwan Group Business. My father has setup this business about ten years ago in doing the wholesale trading of Textiles, School Supplies and Food Items. At present I am working with my two uncles who are responsible for the record keeping of the company, receiving of the goods from the suppliers, paying the bills to the respective suppliers and also providing accommodation to the customers staying at our guest house. Since I have seen all aspects of business, particularly in the field of business transactions and finance, I have worked very hard for understanding the basic concepts of accounting. In my working experience I have learnt that how the world of business is so competitive and it requires a lot of planning, concentration on details, implementation with strategy and still keeping in view the risks involved and after that sales and profits. A good idea can transform into a huge success only when implemented by having a proper plan and strategy.
For achieving my aim of doing successful business in coming years, I have decided to take up Master of Commerce (International Business) from Agra University. The main reason for this choice is that I have seen my father doing his business successfully and he has achieved the apex by following a planned strategy.
For me success in business, particularly international business is not possible without having knowledge in economics which deals with factors affecting prices, production, consumption and their effect on society. Knowledge in finance will help in analyzing the various approaches to raising capital, leverage, market analysis and risk management. Knowledge in statistics can be used for analyzing and interpreting data that underlies business decisions.
All the above subjects are required to understand the problems of modern day business which is growing very fast with globalization, technological changes, liberalization, mergers & acquisitions and so on. I have seen my father doing his business successfully by keeping an eye over the ever changing world of business. Keeping this example in mind, I want to learn these basic concepts at master's level from Agra University. I am confident that I will learn these subjects and also gain hands on experience in international business by being at Agra University, which is one of the best universities in India and is emerging as a major educational center for management studies.
My financial ability to pursue post graduate education is based on my present income, expected inheritance from my late father's estate, plus an anticipated cash settlement from a legal matter now pending. In addition to this I have substantial real property holdings that are currently leased to tenants. In the event that I am unable to qualify for any financial aid, my partner and I are already in discussions with a number of investors regarding the opening of several new retail stores in Arizona and Texas.
During my three years at ASU I have become more mature both physically and mentally and I have learned to work hard and successfully complete all tasks that were given to me. I was able to handle many stressful situations and difficult people during my time as a student worker. I believe that being able to handle the stress and difficult situations that arose during my time as a student worker has prepared me for the challenges of postgraduate school. I have also learned to work effectively with others which will be important in any future career.
I believe that I am a good candidate for Master of Commerce (International Business) at Agra University, because I have seen my father doing business successfully. This has made me realize how smoothly the world of business is working and I have a great interest in the field of business. I have worked very hard during my graduation in all my subjects with a view to prepare myself for postgraduate studies.
